Freedom of Information
On 8 November 2007 a member of the public submitted to the Home Office by e-mail a Freedom of Information request in the following terms:
I would like to submit a request regarding the most recent HMIC audit for crime detections for all forces in England and Wales.
Could I please have a breakdown of the grading comparing each force by crime detection type?
In addition, would it be possible to compare each force's performance against the reults of the previous year audit?
HMIC responded on 14 February 2008:
I hope the attached tables will provide you with all the information you need. I should add that it is not possible to provide you with comparisons in the way you seek because (a) the audit methodology between 2005-06 and 2006-07 changed considerably; and (b) the 2006-07 audit was risk-based and as a result some sanction detection disposals were dropped.
