  An Inspection of the Southern Division BCU in Cambridgeshire Constabulary wasconducted between 8 - 16 December 2003. This report sets out the BCU Inspectionfindings, highlighting areas of good practice and making recommendations forimprovement where appropriate. HM Inspector thanks the officers and staff of SouthernDivision BCU for the co-operation and assistance provided to members of the Inspectionteam.

  Overall, the BCU embraced the BCU Inspection report recommendations in a positive manner,although work on implementation of the action plan has not been fully completed. Theperformance on several crime targets has shown some regression, which might have beenexpected with the introduction of the NCRS. The results have been achieved against the usualbackdrop of challenges around retention of officer skills and staff turnover together with ongoingcommitments to operationa l demands.
