An Inspection of HMRC: The Handling of Human Intelligence Sources
On 27th March 2007, the Chancellor of the Exchequer published HMIC's first report into HM Revenue and Customs' compliance with the requirements of the criminal justice system. A copy of the report, 'An Inspection of HMRC's handling of Human Intelligence Sources', can be found on the 'Specialist Inspections' pages of this website, together with the response from the Paymaster General. The report made recommendations for the Department to improve performance, in particular around value for money and the positioning of law enforcement in HMRC. It also recognised the steps HMRC has taken to address issues previously of cause for concern.
